Piotr Alexewicz

Piotr Alexewicz is one of the most prominent Polish pianists of his generation. He began his musical studies at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław under the guidance of Prof. Paweł Zawadzki, later continuing at the Zurich University of the Arts (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste) in the class of Prof. Konstantin Scherbakov. Another deeply influential figure in his musical education was Nikolai Demidenko.

In 2025, he was a semifinalist in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and he won the Second Prize at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, solidifying his position on the global piano scene. He is also a top prize winner at international competitions in Paris and Bucharest. In his home country, he is a recipient of the Professor Zbigniew Drzewiecki Prize at the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and a two-time winner of the 48th and 50th National Chopin Competition organized by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.

In 2024, he won the Piano Concerto Competition at the Piano Texas Piano Academy, performing Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto in D Minor, Op. 15, with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Miguel Harth-Bedoya. That same year, he became one of the three laureates of the prestigious Schenk Competition in Switzerland, receiving all special distinctions, including the Audience Prize and the Orchestra Prize.

The pianist has several recordings to his name, including a debut album released in 2019 by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, featuring works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Fryderyk Chopin, Franz Liszt, and Maurice Ravel. As part of his continued collaboration with the Institute, he recorded all of Fryderyk Chopin's works for piano and orchestra, excluding the concertos, with the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra conducted by Howard Shelley. He also recorded the complete 26 preludes by Chopin and Sonata in B-flat Minor, Op. 35, which is set for release in 2025.

He has performed at many prestigious international festivals, including "Chopin and His Europe" in Warsaw, the International Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój, Festival Chopin do Brasil, the Chopin Festival in Nohant, Piano Texas, the Arthur Rubinstein Festival in Łódź, the Chopin Festival in Connecticut, the Gdańsk Music Festival, and Recitals in Żelazowa Wola. He has graced renowned concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Salle Cortot, the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Adam Mickiewicz University Hall in Poznań, Teatro Nacional in Brasília, Sala São Paulo, Van Cliburn Concert Hall, Ed Landreth Auditorium in Fort Worth, National Theater in Rabat, Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara, ACROS Fukuoka Concert Hall, The Symphony Hall in Osaka, and Musashino Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo.

He has collaborated with numerous distinguished conductors, including Marek Pijarowski, Andrey Boreyko, Ariel Zuckermann, Benjamin Shwartz, Przemysław Neumann, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Marc Kissoczy, Daniel Stabrawa, Thomas Koncz, Rune Bergmann, Adam Banaszak, Nicolae Moldoveanu, Howard Shelley, Ruben Silva, Jakub Chrenowicz, Norton Morozowicz, Tatsuya Shimono and John Morris Russel.
